vr roller coaster | November 2005 |
For years there has been some VR roller coaster code lying around Clemson University's VR lab. The code was originally written for use on an expensive SGI super-computer but when the VR lab moved to GNU/Linux, the coaster code ceased to work. One weekend, I decided to port the coaster code to Linux, the results of which can be found here: I used SDL as a windowing toolkit and for input (replacing some old X code) and OpenAL for sound (replacing some SGI sound code). While I was at it, I added a "demo" mode, improved the mouse handling code, and ported the flock of birds code to libfob. I also improved support for the VR chair. The VR coaster lives once again at Clemson University. |
